This is a double hitter post…my photo a day project and Koh-I-Noor watercolor wheel review

Koh-I-Noor Watercolor Wheel Stack Pack is small, just 3.5 inches in diameter,  it will fit in the palm of your hand.  They are about the size of a can of tuna .  These are easy peasy for packing in my sketch kit.  The color is fabulous, it’s brilliant hues so it’s wonderful for illustration too.

They are student grade, which surprised me but the major drawback is that they are not lightfast.  Some will find having no pinks or purples a drawback but the colors are every mixable.  Which is fine for my sketchbooks or for quick studies.

If you want to get the brilliant hues from the paint cakes, mist them first.  They work will with sketching if you like to use pen and ink, the color does not cover the dark lines.

Have a happy, creative day!

You mentioned that there is no purple. Why not? Couldn't you mix the red and blue to get a purple? I don't believe I have ever seen these little rounds before. and pink. Can't water down a red? I probably do not understand how these work. I would appreciate any further information or experience you have with them. Thanks for posting. I continue to learn so much from you and others like you that take the time to instruct us regarding a product. ;))

Donna....I mix most of my colors but a lot of people don't; so if you want to mix blue and red, it works great. They are fun and easy to transport but they are student grade. They work like any other watercolor...I keep them in my purse with an itty bitty sketchbook. I don't mind sharing but thanks!!!!
