I've been out driving around looking for thistle...as you can tell from above, I hit the motherload. I think I've got enough images now to do a series this winter.
This is a watercolor cat I did from a friend's photo. I don't work from photos every often and never from somebody else work. If I know I'm going to paint from a photo, typically I do a quick sketch and then take the photo myself. Anyway, it was a good learning experience for me. Laters... ~Moon
I was out and about yesterday looking for thistle...yep, again. I'm working on a thistle series so I'm betting this is going to be a forever and ever project. Anyway, I turned around and poof...I heard thunder and saw the above sight. I was lucky, my camera was in my hands. It didn't last very long. It looks like a pop up storm happened and broke apart as soon as it formed. I wish I would of gotten the lightening as well but you can't have everything.
The above is a new digital piece. I haven't decided what I'm doing with this one. I'd really like it the way it is but I'd also like to paint it. It would make a rockin' mixed media piece. Laters...got lots to get done today! ~Moon
This summer I've made it a priority to gather up photos for winter. Last year I didn't and I was sorry. Here's a few that are in my 'to be painted' image file. Just in case the Farmer's Almanac is correct, it's also time to start working on my bird feeders.
Here's a teaser...I've got a huge project that I'm working on for Danville's Scarecrow Festival. More later on this one...
That's it for me today...back to working on crows... ~Moon
One of the wonderful perks of the social media is finding out about some fun artzy project. One of those projects is World Art Drop Day. It's really rather simple but one of the kewlest acts of random art and organized by Jake Parker. Anyway, take a peek and see if you are interested as well.
I'm starting to work on a few itty bitties; these are watercolor 4x6s that I will mat out to 5x7s. Yes they are small but easy to hide as surprises. Laters....I'm off to the studio.... ~Moon
The last couple of weeks, I've been focused on other interests...like digital, photography, and the Danville Handmade Market. It's the old story, not enough hours in the day.
It's been over a week since I've had a brush in my hands. That's just too long and I found that it wasn't as painful as as I'd thought it would be. Still, it wasn't as liquid smooth as I was a couple of weeks ago. I need to paint more often.
Mr. and Mrs. Crow are a simple painting for me to get back in the swing of things. Later gators... ~Moon
Saturday is the last market of this summer. So far, we have been very luck with the weather and the crowds. It's been a long haul putting this together and next year will be even better. Have a great weekend! ~Moon
It's been a couple interesting days. My laptop is full, stuffed full of images. I've been moving around a half terabyte of data the last two days. I've been moving some of it to an external drive and some to my iMac. It's been digital cleaning to the max.
I managed to get a some thistle hunting...I am so surprised that's it's so difficult to find in my local area. I've been driving up and down back roads looking for plants.
The above is one of my favorite shots... Have a great week! ~Moon
