Still on the road...Houston Downtown Aquarium

Sunday, January 11, 2015

We stopped in to Houston's Downtown Aquarium.  If the weather isn't rain and cold, there's a lot to do.  It has several exhibits, like the white tigers of Maharaja's Temple as well as 400 species of marine live.

There's also outdoor rides, games, and a Shark Voyage exhibit that you ride on a train to view tunnels of sharks.

Here's a few photos that I took with my iPhone....

That's it for today...I've to be up at the buttcrack of dawn to get out of Houston before morning rushhour traffic.

Reasons why I love Texas...Lunch at Lercy's

Wednesday, January 07, 2015

First off, I love Texas because today was 65 degrees and sunshine.  While it was snowing and icky in Indiana.

The second reason why Texas is dear to my heart, is the people...great conversation, kind to strangers, and social manners.  I've heard things like 'please,' 'thank-you,' and 'you comon back anytime.'

The third reason is the food.  I'm gonna let the photos speak for themselves but the chow was fabulous and we dropped in right at closing.  The service was great and the people were wonderful.

Again, the food was great. Just good home cookin' with a sassy down home style.

Willy Burger, fun Texas' lunch...

Tuesday, January 06, 2015

Today, during our travels...Bob and I stopped in for lunch at a place call Willy Burger.  I walked in and fell in love with the 50's kitchy vibe.  The folks that worked there were fabulous and very chatty.

The food was the best of the best burgers that I've ever had.  So if you are any place close to Beaumont Texas, stop in at 5535 Calder won't be sorry. It's Texas cuisine at it's finest.

More mobile sketching....still on the road...

Sunday, January 04, 2015

It was another long day on the road but worth it.  It's a new year with many more new adventures are in the planning.  I really enjoy the doing but the planning is something I consider a chore.

The above us one of my favorite sights of the day.  It was nice seeing a rose in the dead of winter.

The above and below are views from today.

Part of the day was miles of water, mostly swamps, and bridges.  After a while, I got a bit twichy. I was feeling like I wasn't never going to see firm land.

I was able to get a bit of sketching done...I finished it up from lunch.  It was a fabulous veggie pizza from Newk's.

Have a great day...

On the Road...Following my sketching setup on the road...

Saturday, January 03, 2015

It's been a long day...we've been in the car for hours.  Normally I wouldn't complain because if traveling was free, nobody would see me online ever again. LoL

Most of the day, the above was my view. It rained, it was mostly grey soupy sky. After about six or so hours, I was done.

I passed some of the day sketching, depending on which state we were in.  Some roads are smoother than others.

The good news is the test drive of the sketching setup was successful.  I'm actually excited to have will make sketching on the go or onsite much easier.

We stopped in Arkansas for a short break and food.  For the life of me, I saw this and busted out laughing.  Yeah, everyone turned around at stared at me but hey, I doubt I'll see them again.  Today alone, we were in six states.

It is my "Year of Wanders & Wonders" and I plan to follow my arrow.

Packing...Adventure Time...Sketching on the road

Friday, January 02, 2015
The weather next week around here is supposed to be lousy.  It's the typical grey, cold ick that rolls around every year about this time.  So I'm escaping off and on for the next couple of months.  Maybe that will keep me sane and my mouth filter activated.

I've been playing with my portable sketching thingie.  Thingie really isn't that great of a description but I'm not sure what to call it.

After a few tweaks, it seems to be working.  I'll test drive in the car this week.  I can remove a few things like my travel palette, toss it in my bag and I can sketch in a restaurant if I want.  Which I do sometimes doesn't to seem my thang.  Painting food normally doesn't do it for me for some reason.

The above is my blogging setup and I just use my iPhone as a camera.  It isn't much but I don't need much.

It's kinda nice to be able to pick up and go.  Time to pack it up and go...

Day 1 of 365...starting out with wonders

Thursday, January 01, 2015
All fabulous days start with a cup of coffee and a dash of motivation.  Why shouldn't the start of the year be any different.

On a different note...I wish I would of thought gone with an external keyboard for my iPhone a long time ago.  It makes everything so much blogging over coffee while sitting in my kitchen. Everything changes, sometimes for the best...
